Galia Kwetny - a Canadian painter of abstracted landscapes whose recent research explores ways in which migration and displacement is reflected in visual arts. Galia works in oil, synthetic polymer, mixed media, and collage.

Galia Kwetny's massive abstract landscapes are saturated in colourful pigment, embracing and devouring the viewer all at once... They really are pictorial notebooks of her migrations. Her paintings incorporate rudimentary elements of mapping and allude to the physical characteristics of the lands that she had lived in and left behind, the latitudes and longitudes of her migratory life. Galia has negotiated three border crossings, three languages, three heritage traditions, and innumerable everyday challenges – her ‘atlas’ has yet to be completed – the journey for a land to call her own continues.
